Flying Fifteen: Homebuilders' Knowledge-base
Homebuilders

It is interesting to note that we have not seen a ‘home built boat’ for some years. Barry Finlayson was the last of these with Michelle. It is probably time to encourage the do it yourself New Zealand trait and hopefully attract new blood into the class. (Taken from: 2003 President's Report)

I have the Sniffer (the original Wiggybank) mould in my shed at home and the time has come to encourage the ‘do it your self men and women’ to start building new Flying Fifteens from scratch. I would be interested in your thoughts on the best way to promote this.

  • Sniffer mould is available from Peter Dallimore for people to build a FF if they wish.
It is a female mould. Builders will have to create their own deck. It has a steel frame,
and fairly is difficult to transport.

4 August 2006:
The "Sniffer" (Wiigybank) hull mould and a recent keel mould are heading to Wellington. We will be presenting a pictorial construction guide with Graham Brown in the Homebuilders Section as two project boats progress.
